General Properties Analysis of Biofertilizers and Feeds

Biofertilizers are rich in organic substances and nutrients needed for crop growth. They not only provide nutrients for crop growth but also improve soil quality, maintain soil fertility, increase crop yield and improve fertilizer utilization. The safety of organic feed is related to both animal source food safety and environmental ecological safety. The proper use of biofertilizers and organic feeds can improve the yield of plants and animals and the quality of agricultural products.

General characterization of feed and fertilizer samples

With this in mind, Lifeasible provides general characterization services for feed and fertilizer samples to customers in biofertilizer and organic feed-related fields. This includes organoleptic and other general tests. We can help you better understand the physical and chemical properties of your current feed and fertilizer samples so that you can improve the composition ratios and production processes in a targeted manner.

Testing indicators we offer

Item Description
Sensory index test Color and luster
Odor
Condition
We generally use visual inspection and smell to determine the sensory indicators of the samples.
General index test Particle size and fineness (feed) In the case of feeds with similar overall nutrition, different particle sizes can also affect the digestion and absorption of the feed as well as the production performance of the poultry. Therefore, we offer our customers an assessment of feed particle size and its distribution to minimize the influencing factors.
We use standard feed particle size determination methods to calculate the geometric mean of the feed particles and the uniformity of the feed particle size (standard deviation or coefficient of variation). In addition to this, we are equipped with instruments to check the feed particle distribution.
Organic acid The content and composition ratio of organic acids are important indicators for determining the fermentation characteristics and evaluating the quality of feeds and fertilizers, therefore, we established a solution for organic acids in feeds and fertilizers.
We used a ProElut PSA solid-phase extraction column with aqueous hydrochloric acid solution elution. It simplifies the pre-treatment steps, reduces the experimental cost, saves a lot of time, and reduces the interference of impurities with a recovery of more than 80%. Afterward, we used high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) to construct a standard curve for the determination of the organic acid content of feed and fertilizer samples.
Moisture The moisture content of feed and fertilizer is a very important quality index, which directly affects the quality of pelleted feed and fertilizer. We usually use the direct drying method and reduced pressure drying method to determine the moisture content in feed and fertilizer samples. In addition to this, we are equipped with a moisture rapid tester with a high precision load cell weighing system, which is not affected by the heating temperature and weighing accuracy during the test. It has the advantages of high accuracy of determination and short analysis time.
pH value We use the potentiometric method to determine the pH value of feed and fertilizer samples.

Testing range

  • Biological fertilizers. Bacterial fertilizers, fungal fertilizers, actinomycete fertilizers, rhizobacterial fertilizers, nitrogen-fixing bacterial fertilizers (autotrophic or combined symbiotic), phosphate solubilizing bacterial fertilizers, and silicate bacterial fertilizers.
  • Organic feed. Additive premixed feeds concentrated feeds, compound feeds, and concentrate supplements.
