Apples are one of the most popular fruits in the world. The global apple production has exceeded 8700 Mt/year and the annual processing of apple juice is up to 1200 Mt. A large amount of apple juice processing means that a large amount of waste is generated during the process, which includes apple pomace (AP).
AP is a by-product of pressing obtained during the processing of ping juice, cider, wine, distilled spirits, vinegar, and jelly. Solid pomace accounts for 20-35% of the fresh weight of apple fruit. The current common approach to AP is to dump it as garbage, which not only pollutes the environment but also seriously wastes resources.
The potential use of AP is gradually being recognized, not only because it contains a large amount of energy material, but also because it is rich in nutrients required by crops. Therefore, Lifeasible is working on the research and utilization of AP as a resource.
We provide fermentation services for AP, including strain screening and fermentation process improvement involved in the fermentation process. We place AP on solid-state fermentation media under the action of different microorganisms. We set up suitable fermentation conditions to convert AP into some kind of bacteriophage protein feed that can meet the feeding requirements. And we can improve the protein content in AP fermented feed by screening good fermentation strains, adding suitable nitrogen sources, and optimizing fermentation conditions.

---|---|---|---|
A1 | White rot fungi | A5 | Aspergillus niger |
A2 | Trichoderma viride | A6 | Bacillus subtilis |
A3 | Geotrichum candidum | A7 | Saccharomyces cerevisiae |
A4 | Aspergillus oryzae | A8 | Rhizobium |
We mostly use single strain, two strain, three strain, and four strain fermentation techniques in the AP fermentation process. Mixed strain fermentation is mainly used to achieve a better fermentation effect by coordinating the intercropping relationship between strains. Of course, this also depends on your project needs and other unique requirements. So you need to contact our staff to determine the fermentation process and strains before sending samples. We will determine the inoculation ratio between strains, the amount of strain inoculation, and other details with our rich experience and well-developed system.
The AP fermentation products provided by Lifeasible contain many nutrients required for animal growth, and the fermentation process allows many large sugars such as cellulose to be efficiently degraded by microorganisms into small molecules. This makes the nutrients in the feed more easily absorbed. In addition, the feed produced by fermented AP contains a variety of active substances that degrade anti-nutritional factors in the raw material and improve the animal's intestinal system, which has a positive effect on the digestion and absorption of the animal. If you are interested in the services we provide or have the intention to cooperate in the development please feel free to contact us.
