Description:	Ammonium chloride is a nitrogen source in fertilizers (corresponding to 90% of the world's production of ammonium chloride) such as chloroammonium phosphate. The main crops fertilized this way are rice and wheat. Ammonium chloride is an excellent source of both N and Cl- for coconut, oil palm, and kiwifruit, which are Cl-responsive crops. It also significantly increased the time it took for nitrogen to disappear from unlimed soil.
